Overview

We are looking for a skilled and data-enthusiastic Analytics Engineer to join our young data science, engineering, and analytics team in Barcelona.
In this role, your focus will be: 

 

  • 75% of your time you will work on automating internal processes, building utility applications, dashboards and analytical frameworks, supporting internal stakeholders with tools, data, and insights. 
  • 25% of your time will be dedicated to managing SQL-based shopping feeds, maintaining data pipelines, performing data analysis on digital marketing data, and communicating directly with clients.

We are a young, dynamic team looking for someone who’s eager to make an impact. We need a team player who can communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders. You should enjoy collaborating with others and be passionate about using technology to solve real-world problems for non-technical colleagues. This role is hands-on, where you will translate business problems into technical solutions, developing data applications and workflow automations in Python and deploying them on Google Cloud Platform. Additionally, you will support maintaining a major SQL-based data pipeline for a key client, handling client communication and technical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

End-to-end Pipeline Management:

  • Support in maintenance of Google Shopping feeds by writing and optimising SQL queries.
  • Troubleshoot issues in our internal system and Google Merchant Center, addressing both internal and client flags efficiently.
  • Provide technical support for any other technical- or feed-related topics, ensuring client collaboration and satisfaction is maintained.
  • Proactively identify and propose improvements to feed quality and performance in the feeds to external stakeholders.

 

Workflow Automation:

  • Map out internal workflows and processes and automate what can be automated.

 

Utility Application Development:

  • Participate in or lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of web utility applications to facilitate workflows, tasks, and processes within the company.

 

Analytical Dashboard Design & Deployment: 

  • Design, build and deploy dashboards and analytical frameworks to deliver insights to internal and external stakeholders.

 

Collaboration & Communication: 

  • Collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into understandable terms for business teams.
    Follow and actively contribute to our data-team’s “way of working” concepts and conventions.

 

Presentations:

  • Lead or support the creation and delivery of clear, insightful presentations that communicate key insights, ideas, and improvement opportunities to clients and internal, external stakeholders.

 

Documentation: 

  • Create clear, thorough, and comprehensive documentation of all processes, workflows, and technical implementations, ensuring that everything is well-documented and easy to follow.

Qualifications

  • Shopping Feeds Management: Proven working experience in SQL
  • Workflow Automation: Proven working proficiency with Python (Knowledge of best practices: classes, compute-efficient code, data-structure, commenting, etc.)
  • Analytical Dashboard Design & Deployment: Working experience with dashboarding tools, such as Looker, PowerBI, Tableau.
  • Data Pipelines: Experience in understanding, maintaining & optimising ETL pipelines.
  • Databases: Understanding of relational databases and No-SQL databases.
  • Version Control: Familiarity with Git and GitHub.
  • Cloud Engineering: Exposure to Cloud Deployment solutions such as Google Cloud, Azure, or AWS. (GCP preferred).

Soft skills: 

  • Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in fluent English, both written and spoken, with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving attitude.

 

Big Plus:

  • Ideally knowledge of Google Merchant Centre, Google Analytics, Search Ads 360
  • Containerisation: Knowledge of containerisation principles (Docker).
  • Utility Application Development: Experience with frameworks such as flask, Django, dash, fastAPI
  • Web development: Experience with JavaScript frameworks
